The development of Quantal Quetzal is becoming interesting as Ubuntu is targeted towards more desktop eye candy and polished version with this release. According to the launchpad blueprint for the Unity Greeter for Ubuntu 12.10 as provided in Google docs, Ubuntu Quantal Quetzal is having the smooth Unity Greeter interface.
The proposed features of Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Unity Greeter are:
- Greeter as the Lock Screen
- Flicker free login and unlock transitions
- Translucent indicator menus
- Back button
- Drop-down menus
- Confirmation message
While Ubuntu 12.04 being a LTS release is targeted towards robustness, stability, Ubuntu 12.10 is becoming a polished desktop version which will attract more non-linux users to Ubuntu.
Also, we are aware that Windows 8 is moving towards an epic failure such as it’s precedents Me and Vista, Ubuntu 12.10 may attract new users with it’s new polished looks.
